Which is better alicante or valencia

Indeed thanks to technology and the possibility of teleworking, many have decided to move to the Valencian region to work from their new home, while enjoying a more satisfying quality of life and a happier perspective for the present, the future and their retirement. Alicante is the second best city in the world to live in according to expats Migrants recognize the city ahead of big capitals like New York, London, Paris, Milan and Rome. Most Valencian towns have a stable population throughout the year, though in some cases rising slightly in the summer as people go back to their pueblos for the holidays perhaps.

There are exceptions such as Canet, the immensely ugly La Pobla de Farnals and Puzol Playa which are full of life in July and August but rather empty the rest of the year, but mostly people live in their houses all year round and most properties are not second homes. This cannot be said of Alicante! The people who buy property in Valencia tend to be people of a working age who want to do more not less, they want to participate in the culture and life of the city and the surrounding towns not opt out.

In Alicante a lot of the purchases are from the older retired generations looking to live out their golden years by a warm beach. Below you can see that in the Valencian Community Only the islands come close.

However the figures are skewed upwards by Alicante of course just as they are in Andalucia by Malaga, the Costa del Sol, of which we will see more later. In the Valencia Community there is a huge difference between Alicante and the other two provinces as you can see below, Even more startling is the case of Andalucia.

If you want to get away from all of those pesky foreigners then go to Orense in Galicia where not a single sale of property was made to a foreign buyer in the last quarter! You might hear the odd conversation in English especially in the favoured bars and cafes of the Old Town, Ruzafa, the Patacona and the Cabanyal and on some days the area around the central market can seem overwhelmed as cruise ships stop by and disgorge thousands of tourists into a very small area.

However mostly you hear Spanish and maybe some Valenciano. You are not generally surrounded by tourist fayre and tourist souvenir shops. Once away from the area around the central market and town hall you will struggle to find a souvenir shop and the cafes and restaurants are serving more traditional menus of the day rather than tourist packaged meals.

Restaurant hours: Lunch is between 1 and 4 pm. Dinner is between 8 pm and midnight. You will be able to see our fabulous Christmas lights in Malaga that turn our downtown into a very magical place.

Tourists visit Malaga just to see these lights, probably the best in Spain. Every year the designs on Calle Larios are different. By a long shot , I vote for Valencia. It has lots more to see and do. I have been to both cities several times and agree, Valencia has more to offer, including a stroll around the old town, around the cathedral, Rustafa and Carmen areas, Central market and the walk along the dry river bed as well as the City of Arts and Science and the beach.

Tough question? Easy answer: Valencia. If its just a day stop I would recommend Alicante , you need more days for Valencia. Valencia is full of places to wander, shop, eat and drink! I would also choose Valencia. It has far more to see and do, good restaurants and some lovely Baroque architecture. I have lived in both city's, for the limited time you're spending in eastern Spain I would recommend Alicante , simply for this reason as Valencia is very large and busy, attractions are to far spread apart and Valencia is not a beach city 2.

Alicante is right on the sea and beach front there you have a very nice port with multi million dollar yachts, the town is the sea front with some of the best restaurants I've been to much more than Valencia strangely enough. With you driving you will find parking your vehicle a lot easier in Alicante.

Also there's a lovely Christmas department in Court ingleas store which the staff take on each other with such seriousness it's an attraction itself. There is more to see in Valencia however my personal choice is Alicante. Its a great , compact city with a lovely beach. The castle is brilliant and loads of food options. Of course you could consider a coast tour and take in Santa Pola, Alicante and Valencia - all excellent places. Why not consider afternoon and evening in Alicante and drive to Valencia the next morning early and have time in both places.
